When: Sat Oct 15 at 10 AM
Where: Meet on the trail at Liberty Drive, just down the road from the Irving gas station.
What: Join Londonderry’s Conservation Commission for a guided walk to learn about natural things along the trail like plants, animals, water and a bit about the history of the trail. The walk will head east toward Derry, with a round trip maximum of 2 miles, although you can turn around and head back at any time.
Who: Open to the public, all our welcome! This is a family friendly outing.
When: Saturday, October 22nd at 9 AM to 11 AM
Where: 527 Mammoth Rd., next to Wallboard Supply, “The Cohas section”
What are we doing: Someone illegally dumped trash in one section of the Cohas after the April clean up, and just before the new gates were installed. We need to remove this trash with people and pick-up trucks. There is also a now dried up wet area where there are some old tires now visible that need to be removed.
Who: We need volunteers and pick-up trucks. You will get dirty, so bring gloves and wear work boots or hiking boots.
April 2016 brought us the final top coat of paving on phase 3, which extended the total trail length to just over 3 miles. April was also when a major trail clean up day was held on the future phase 4 & 5 sections. May brought us to the third annual Family Fun Day, with the biggest turn out yet. Visitors enjoyed music, free hot dogs, free yogurt from Stonyfield Yogurt and activities like “Rail Trail Eye Spy”. In July the official ribbon cutting of phase 3 was held to acknowledge and thank our sponsors: Kinder Morgan, Londonderry’s Conservation Commission and Angus Insurance. The Rail Trail has seen a big increase in users this summer, thank you to all our volunteers and supporters!
